I anticipated that the end of the opera would bring about the lighter part of the semester, or so that had been my hopes since November. That thought has since been disproved.
Engagements for the remainder of the semester have been updated, with a major concert or run-out every week. The UGA Hodgson Singers and Men’s Glee Club are performing a lot this semester in the greater Georgia area.
Additionally I’m brushing up my piano chops to accompany my good friend and colleague Josephine Delledera, soprano, on her Masters Voice Recital (we’ll be performing Eric Whitacre’s Five Hebrew Love Songs).
After spring break I return and will be conducting two works on another friend and colleague’s, Matt Walley, trombone, Masters recital.
PLUS, there’s the whole finishing my degree, with orals next week there’s lots of studying to be done.
Finally, check out the gallery, new page with video and sound clips from my recital, as well as program notes. Here’s a direct link: An Eclectic Mass

Awesome opening night of The Pirates of Penzance last night. It’s been an absolute pleasure working with the entire production staff, the cast, crew, and the pit orchestra. I’ve worked with all aspects other than the pit before, and I have truly enjoyed the new collaboration in an opera setting.
Athens Banner Herald ran an article on us, read it here. It was definitely a new and exciting experience to be interviewed This picture also popped up in the article, courtesy of AJ Reynolds.
I hope this is the first of many opportunities to conduct an opera.

Tech week for the opera! Three more dress rehearsals to go, then show time. It’s all pulling together really well, orchestra, voices, scenery, staging, etc.
On a production note, we were mentioned in the University of Georgia on-line newspaper, The Columns (the guy conducting looks a bit familiar…). The Franklin Chronicles also posted an article.
Be sure to get your tickets now! $18 general admission / $5 a student.
